Welcome to 'Transmitting to Earth'. I'm Charssun and I'll be your host. This blog and podcast is a byproduct of VoyagerRadio.com and is intended to provide the most timely information about this Internet radio station. It is also intended to be a fun and accessible electronic journal with commentary focusing on Internet radio, podcasting and webcasting issues and technologies, music, and some of my other interests. I also offer personal perspective about being an Internet radio broadcaster (and podcaster).

Okay, I've finally completed most of the process of upgrading the webcast. The audio problems should be gone, but if anyone is experiencing problems listening to the webcast, please contact me.

Next week Live365, the service which assists me in delivering this Internet radio broadcast to you, will be making a change to their service. Everyone listening to Internet radio broadcasts streamed through Live365 will have to login in order to listen. This will require a free registration with Live365. (Live365 Preferred Members won't have to login). If you have done so yet, please register with Live365. I assure you it is safe to do so; I've been using Live365 for years and they've been very responsible with my personal information.

Here are some other options for listening to Live365 webcasts, including Voyager (from the Live365 "Listening to Live365" page):

Use Start365
Start365 is a stand-alone player application for Windows that lets listeners tune in directly to Live365 stations without going through the website at all. (It lives in your system tray and makes listening available in one click!)

Download Start365 for Windows (Mac version coming soon)

Direct Stream Access

If you've been listening by connecting directly to the stream in a 3rd party player via the /play/ URL (ie http://www.live365.com/play/34212), you will need to do the following:

* If you're already a live365 member, visit the Live365 homepage, and log-in in the right hand column (check the "remember me" option to avoid dealing with this again.)
* If you're not a live365 member, visit http://www.live365.com/registration. You'll be sent a confirmation email. Click the link within, and you'll be registered. Then, log in on the Live365 homepage. (Check the "remember me" option to avoid dealing with this again)
You may continue to use your favorite third party player. Simply go to your Listen Settings to select the appropriate player setting.

For example, I use Winamp when I'm listening to Voyager with a PC and iTunes when I'm listening with a Mac. Since this both of these are 3rd party players, I would follow the second set of instructions listed above (under "Direct Stream Access") for listening to a Live365 webcast.

Happy listening, and again, please contact me if you have any questions, problems with listening to or comments about Voyager Internet Radio. I know this is alot to take in at once so I'd be happy to help you. Once you get going, though, it'll be a piece of cake listening to your favorite Internet radio station!
