Welcome to 'Transmitting to Earth'. I'm Charssun and I'll be your host. This blog and podcast is a byproduct of VoyagerRadio.com and is intended to provide the most timely information about this Internet radio station. It is also intended to be a fun and accessible electronic journal with commentary focusing on Internet radio, podcasting and webcasting issues and technologies, music, and some of my other interests. I also offer personal perspective about being an Internet radio broadcaster (and podcaster).

I am in the process of upgrading the webcast to a 32k bitrate, so if you've been experiencing problems listening with the past 24 hours or so, that was probably the reason. By later this afternoon, everything should be copacetic again.
Formerly the webcast was 24k. The sound quality will improve with this upgrade, and more folks who visit Live365 may choose to listen to Voyager because it will now be displayed as a webcast for 56k dialup modem users. Previously it was displayed as a webcast for 33k modem users. Why do I think more people will listen? Most folks prefer to listen at the highest possible quality available. So if you have a 56k (dialup) internet connection, chances are you're going to try listening to the webcasts designed for 56k connections first before trying the 33k ones. The drawback: folks with 33k modems or poorer internet connections won't be able to listen anymore. I don't know if I have any listeners using less than a 56k modem, but if you are, I'd love to hear from you.
